Johnny Mowlem is considered one of motorsports’ best wheelmen, and in 2008, he’ll have an opportunity to display his talents in the American Le Mans Series with Corsa Motorsports. His strong relationship with Ferrari factored into his decision to join the team when approached by principal Steve Pruitt.

Mowlem made his debut in the Series in 1999 and has since compiled 55 starts, four wins, 21 Top-3s, 36 Top-5s, and 48 Top-10s, to only six DNFs.

The Englishman made a memorable start to the 2007 season, debuting with a victory at the 12 Hours of Sebring in a Risi Competizione Ferrari.

In 2005 he helped the ALMS break new ground in television broadcasting by talking live during green flag laps about his car’s performance at Lime Rock Park. He ended the day with a podium finish. He has excelled in the GT class and claimed victories in both the 24 Hours of Daytona and 12 Hours of Sebring, and has earned class podiums at virtually every major sports car race in the world, including the famous Le Mans 24 Hours and the 1000 km Nüburgring. However, perhaps other than winning Sebring in GT in 2007 with Mika Salo and Jaime Melo, his ALMS highlight was running in the Zytek Prototype for the 2 final races in 2006, finishing 2nd overall in the grueling 10 hour Petit Le Mans, beaten only by the factory Audi of McNish and Capello.

Mowlem blew onto the sports car racing scene in 1997 when he won 17 of 17 Porsche Cup races in Britain, earning 14 pole positions along the way. For that season’s performance, he was honored in his home country at the International Autosport Awards with the Greg Grant Award for outstanding achievement in motorsports.

Mowlem began racing at the age of 19 after buying his first car with a small inheritance from his grandfather. His racing history includes stints in Formula 3 and 3000. He also competed in select FIA GT races before finding a home in the ALMS.

When he is not racing, Mowlem enjoys spending time with his London-based family and participating in activities such as skiing and soccer. His wife Fiona is the biggest influence in his life. Together, the couple has two children, son Reece and daughter Seriena. Mowlem received degrees in Spanish and economics from Leeds University.
